Advanced Battery Concepts, LLC, to license bi-polar battery technology - Company signs agreement with Johnson Controls
Clare, MI January 6, 2017 - Advanced Battery Concepts (ABC) will provide a license to Johnson Controls for a bi-polar battery technology with the goal of future product commercialization. The two companies executed the agreement in December.
The non-exclusive global licensing deal is for ABC’s GreenSeal© technology. It is a new way to construct a battery that provides several advantages, including an improved vibration durability, greater cycle-life performance and a simplified approach to higher-voltage applications.
“Our GreenSeal© technology considerably simplifies manufacturing processes in lead-acid bi-polar batteries while simultaneously improving battery performance,” Dr. Edward Shaffer, CEO and Founder, Advanced Battery Concepts. “We are very proud to work with Johnson Controls, the world’s leading automotive battery manufacturer, as we continue to develop and commercialize these products.”
In bi-polar batteries, electrical conduction occurs through the same plate, whereas conventional lead-acid batteries use a strap to transfer positive and negative electrons between plates.
